ha ha, man...these are friggin sweet! you do stuff where I would be more hesitant to do. you go nuts on eyelashes for guys, ha ha. was there a story behind why you made the woman into a chicken?
Haha thanks a lot, Chua! I guess I really like to make girly-looking dudes even girlier. Ah, the robin girl. Well, I'm sure you can see that the guy is huge in comparison to the girl, so I wanted her sitting on his arm in some way. As I got to drawing her beak-like nose and plumage-like hairstyle, I might have also been subconsciously influenced by the guy's bird on his sweatshirt that I couldn't really capture with his arms crossed. Voila! Robin Girl! I was tempted while I was still drawing to ask if her name was Robin by any chance, but I thought that would be way too obvious haha.
Hey Eric! Love these! I worked at Six Flags N.E. back one summer during high school...hated it! Haha, but I was on rides...wish I had thought to do some caricature stuff. Looks like you have a lot of fun with them. Does anyone ever get pissed at you for your close "honesty" to peoples features?
Jim- Thanks, that's definitely one of my faves! Reminded me of some kind of king and a pufferfish.
Scott- Yeah, I saw someone else from our art school drawing for Henna Tattoos at 6 Flags, and I was like, "Man, why aren't you drawing caricatures instead of drawing and redrawing stuff you could've done in 7th grade?" I've pissed off a few people, but it's mostly insecure people who can't laugh at how they look or overprotective mothers who ask us to draw their kids cute without their flaws. Kinda comes with the territory, but it's really the greatest job!
Aaron- I sometimes forget to have fun with my own drawings when I'm working hard at figuring out new stuff for me like 3/4 views (especially since I haven't worked alongside other artists since the end of August), but glad you could see that I was still having some fun along the way. Thanks!
cool robin back story! I always like hearing people's commentary on the art they do and I enjoy your extra commentary you say in the comments here. It'd be cool to maybe see more of that for stuff you post.
Glad you liked it, Chua. Yeah, I plan on leaving more commentary in the future, as I've added more to more recent posts. For a while I was just trying to get all that stuff posted and behind me so that I could move on to creating new artwork. It was kind of overwhelming haha
I've been completely obsessed with the world of caricature for the past 2 and a half years now. After graduating from the Hartford Art School in 2007 with an illustration degree, I started drawing caricatures at Six Flags, NE for the next 3 summers and at various craft fairs, candle stores, parties and malls ever since in addition to the occasional magazine illustration job. I draw a lot but should draw even more.

I like the second one from the top. Great faces - you really like to push it there!
